SUMMARY:MozillaPH Monthly Online Meetup (JAN 2022)
DESCRIPTION:Register via Eventbrite to receive the Zoom Meeting details (it will be sent via email on the day of the meetup). \nhttps://mozillaph-online-meetup-jan2022.eventbrite.com \nJoin the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) Online Meetup this coming Saturday\, 29 January 2022 at 8:00 PM (GMT+8) as we hear from our special guest how to get started with WebAssembly (Wasm). \nWebAssembly (Wasm) is a binary instruction format for a stack-based virtual machine. Wasm is designed as a portable compilation target for programming languages\, enabling deployment on the web for client and server applications. \nFor our very first online meetup of 2022\, we will have Mr. Richard Neil Ilagan (popularly known as “Carding” in the local tech scene) of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our guest speaker. \nCarding has been building software systems professionally since 2006\, and specializes in web/mobile frontend development\, containers\, and serverless technologies. As a Prototyping Engineer for AWS\, he regularly works with emergent technologies\, and it’s always a pleasure to share his experiments and findings with others. \nAccording to his 2021 Spotify Wrapped review\, he listens to k-pop + j-rock too much\, and to OPM too little\, so he’s trying to fix that for next year. He also plays way too much Dota 2. \nThis MozillaPH Online Meetup is made possible with the support of our friends from Edukasyon.ph and AWS Siklab Pilipinas.

SUMMARY:#96 R^4: Rad talks about Reproducible and Reusable R: renv & box packages
DESCRIPTION:How do we avoid “But it works in my computer” discussions when deploying analytics products developed in R? \nRad will talk about Reproducible and Reusable R: renv package management and box modules. “renv helps manage […] project-specific state to help isolate your project’s R dependencies\, and the existing tools you’ve used for managing R packages” (https://rstudio.github.io/renv/articles/renv.html)\, while box helps “organise code into hierarchical\, composable\, reusable modules\, and use it effortlessly across projects via a flexible\, declarative dependency loading syntax” (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/box/index.html). \nRicardo Rodrigo (Rad) Basa helps Appsilon “build the world’s most advanced enterprise R Shiny applications” (https://appsilon.com/). He has decades of experience in information technology\, and frequently shares his knowledge with RUG-PH.

SUMMARY:A Day in Life of a WFH Pythonista Ep#9 w/ Almond & Marte(Makers&Problem Solvers)
DESCRIPTION:A Day in Life of a WFH Pythonista Ep#9: a webinar talk show with Almond Rose Obedoza and Marte Soliza\, Makers and Problem-solvers \nWHAT:A Day in a Life of a WFH Pythonista is a monthly virtual webinar talk show series where we interview Pythonistas representing various roles (Developer\, CTO\, Data Scientist\, QA\, Network Engineer\, Scientist\, Educator\, Student\, etc.) to give people in the community an insight of what a typical workday looks like for these various roles. Hopefully\, this would also serve as an inspiration and give a sense of community especially for most who are working from home or studying from home. \nIn this episode\, we will be interviewing Makers and Problem-solvers – Almond Rose Obedoza (Tech Enthusiast) and Marte Soliza (co-founder and ex-CTO of Insync) \nAlmond Rose Obedoza is an avid tech enthusiast and an advocate of teaching kids how to code at an early age. Middle school student Mona Obedoza enjoys imagining the many possibilities of our world’s future and how technology can positively shape the lives of those around her. However\, when she isn’t participating in hackathons\, delivering speeches at tech conferences\, or hosting programming workshops for kids\, she can often be found curled up with a book while listening to Japanese music – or experimenting with her laptop’s settings while desperately hoping that it won’t suddenly crash. You can learn more about her at https://sunshinebunnysoftware.tech \nMarte Soliza is the co-founder and ex-CTO of Insync. He has more than a decade of experience in Python and his favorite part about the language is how you can adjust the level of abstraction you use depending on your purpose. He’s currently a consultant (https://talaksan.com) trying to solve different problems for different people. He’s also helping improve computer science education in the country through the National Olympiad in Informatics (https://noi.ph). He misses traveling and rock climbing outdoors. \nWHEN: October 30\, 2021 (Saturday) at 5:00pm-6:30pm PHT (UTC +8) \nWHERE: Online via Zoom and broadcasted on YouTube Live \nHosted by:– Ryan Ermita and Alysson Alvaran (PythonPH Trustees)– Jan Aaron Angelo Lee (CTO of Swarm) \n—🤝 Huge thanks to Swarm for making this show possible and for becoming the “Main Supporter Of The Year” for PythonPH! ❤ \nAbout Swarm:Swarm is an invite-only platform that helps builders connect\, ideate\, and team up to form projects that make an impact. Join the waitlist via https://swarm.work to get exclusive access to Swarm’s builder and founder network\, community events\, projects marketplace\, and more coming soon!
