About us

The rise in the number of tech communities in the Philippines dates back in the early days of the WWW in the Philippines (circa 1995). From mailing lists to BBS, which later evolved into online forums, tech communities in the country began conducting mini-EBs (Eye Balls or what we know now as meetups) to give faces behind the (user)names online.

On 21 April 2016, Microsoft Philippines called for a Community Influencers Meeting, which was attended by representatives from Google Philippines, Mozilla Philippines, and Developers Connect (DevCon) Philippines. The initial meeting aimed at coordinating the major events across the big tech communities to avoid a possible conflict on dates. A bigger meeting followed a month later (26 May 2016), attended by representatives from more around ten (10) local tech communities. The Philippine Tech Community Leads group (as it is known now) meets monthly to discuss issues around community growth, management, expanding linkages, and promote collaboration among different organizations.

As the local tech community grows, so as the need for a go-to website for Pinoys to find events and resources online. The Philippine Tech Community Leads group spearheads the development of such website to connect tech communities and enthusiasts to promote camaraderie, cooperation, and collaboration.
